Our Mission
The Globe aims to engage the George Washington University academic community in responsible global citizenship through the promotion of undergraduate international relations scholarship. The articles published in The Globe offer rich diversity in thought and conviction, allowing for active and vigorous debate on key policy issues in International Affairs.
All current undergraduate students and recent graduates affiliated with an accredited college or university are encouraged to submit their original academic work for consideration. We hope that the clarity, honesty, and accountability of our issues further our collective understanding of the discipline and encourage dynamic leadership.
A Brief History of Our Work
Since 2012, The Globe has provided yearly opportunities for undergraduate students to publish their research in all fields of international affairs. We have published a variety of papers ranging from policy briefings and reports to political analyses to conflict resolution recommendations. Although the Globe was briefly defunct during the Covid-19 pandemic, we resumed full operations in April 2023 and now publish a variety of articles seasonally including: Research Articles, Letters to the Editor, Photographic Essays, and Perspective/Reaction Articles.
A Unique Opportunity
The Globe is the only undergraduate International Affairs Journal at GW, and one of a minority of journals that create research opportunities for undergraduate students in North America. It is currently only 1 of about 25 journals in the world, and only about 1 of 10 in North America, which creates a unique opportunity for undergraduate students inside and outside of GW to formally publish their research.
